Oxford UMC recently received a grant of $3,900 from the Clyde P. and Katherine B. Alexander Memorial Fund of The Philadelphia Foundation to support its local outreach ministries.  Foundation President and CEO Pedro A. Ramos announced the grant.

The Rev. Mark Terry, Oxford’s pastor, said the grant supports the church’s outreach programs to the community, including Vacation Bible School, a free ice cream social, the springtime Community Kids Corner, the fall Family Fun Night, and the church’s monthly meal served at the Lighthouse Youth Center.

“We are thankful that the Alexanders chose to use their estate to benefit Oxford for years to come; and we’re thankful for the part we get to play in that,” said Terry. “Their gift helps our outreach efforts here in the community and our missions around the world,”  As part of The United Methodist Church, Oxford supports national and international missionaries and mission efforts.

Founded in 1851, Oxford UMC makes it their mission to be “Praising, Caring, Serving, Sharing.”  Worship services are held at 8:30 and 10:55 on Sunday mornings, with Sunday School for all ages at 9:45.

There is a youth group for grades 5 through 8, and Vacation Bible School will be held July 24 to 28 this summer.  The church also offers Bible study, three handbell choirs, and adult and children choirs.  For more information about the church, please call 610-932-9698.
