The Rev. Myron E. “Mike” Steele, 83, of White Haven, a longtime pastor of Lattimer UMC, died last Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016.

He served the following churches:

  • Tamaqua: First UMC
  • Tamaqua: Salem UMC
  • Freeland: Park UMC
  • Lattimer UMC

The 60-year member of both the Irem Shrine and the Masons retired in 2002.

Steele is survived by his wife, Kay Wharen Steele; a daughter, Michal Markwith, and her husband; a son, Philip Jones, and his wife; three grandchildren; a sister, L. Myrl Young; and other relatives. His other son, Brad Jones, preceded him in death.
