Celebrate World Communion Sunday, Oct. 1

On Oct. 1, millions of Christians around this divided world will unite in celebrating the Eucharist and the global, unifying power of Christ’s gospel on World Communion Sunday. Join your sisters and brothers everywhere around the Lord’s Table, and join millions of your fellow United Methodists on this day, or on a more convenient date, in lifting and receiving the annual, churchwide World Communion Sunday special offering.

Our gifts provide scholarships and grants to help United Methodist scholars and servants in the U.S. and worldwide acquire education and training needed to serve their churches and communities—and for many, their countries. If you have not already done so, please download the free World Communion SundayPastor and Leader’s Kit and order your leaflet/offering envelopes and posters to enhance your celebration.

You also can share the impact that generous giving on WorldCommunion Sunday makes around the world. Watch the short video “A Moment in Mission: World Communion Sunday or read an inspiring story about the impact of your gifts to World Communion Sunday. Share your favorites with your congregation and church leaders during upcoming services or in small groups.

When United Methodists commune and share their gifts together, students like Dinkin Kalbeth of Nigeria can obtain the knowledge needed to help solve the issues facing their communities.
Together, we equip disciples to effect change at home and around the world. Your leadership is key in helping us spread this message of hope.

Let us celebrate World Communion Sunday together on Oct. 1 and encourage generous giving so that we may help lift up tomorrow’s leaders.
