Now that a preview of summer weather is upon us, many are spending time outdoors to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation.
The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference is blessed with four diverse camps where such beauty can be found in abundance, especially by young people of all ages who come to summer camp each year to enjoy potentially life-changing adventures. Summer Camp registration is wrapping up now and the fun begins in early June*.
Our quartet of scenic Camp & Retreat Centers are spread out among the conference’s four regional districts:
- Pocono Plateau, a jewel in the picturesque Pocono Mountains of the far North;
- Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp, conveniently located just outside Philadelphia in the East;
- Innabah, centrally located in the rural South, near Pottstown; and
- Gretna Glen, nestled in the lush-green Lebanon Valley of the West.
All four sites offer a rich variety of entertaining activities and enjoyable, enlightening camping experiences. Yet, few campers have had the pleasure of visiting all the sites; and many more might do so if they could just get a sneak peek at what exciting features await them at each venue.
With that in mind, the conference’s Camping & Retreat Ministries program has developed professionally produced videos of each campsite and made them available on their respective websites. Also newly produced is a general Camp & Retreat Centers video now viewable on the Conference website.
“We know that our campers and their families have a number of camping and outdoor options available to them for the summer,” said Carlen Blackstone, a longtime lover of camping who assists the conference’s Camp & Retreat Ministry Board with marketing.
“While many of our families come visit the camps for our open houses and other gatherings, we want to use the benefits of technology to showcase our beautiful camps on their websites. By simply selecting a link, anyone can get a glimpse of various programs and amenities at our sites that make camping such a meaningful experience for so many.”
Each video is about 3 minutes long and provides a snapshot of many great settings and programs available to campers. The 4½-minute general camp video that showcases all four sites can be found on the Camp & Retreat Ministries section of the conference website.
