St. Matthew’s UMC of Valley Forge will join neighboring churches in a public witness on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 3:30 PM, against the lethal, senseless gun violence that is taking many lives and in favor of sensible gun safety laws. The Valley Forge Gun Violence Awareness Day vigil walk will begin at two locations, Valley Friends Meeting House and Valley Forge United Church of Christ and end at St Matthews UMC. Plans also include a ‘Memorial to the Lost’ t-shirt display on church lawns (provided with help from Heeding God’s Call Philadelphia), and remembrance moments at participating faith institutions, and advocacy presentations.
“We come together as one community of faith to honor those lost to gun murders and to demand stronger and effective gun laws and regulations,” reads the event promotion.
