While off from school, about 15 youth from three South District churches came to Otterbein UMC in Mont Clare on Monday, Sept 26, to help the church recover from 2021’s Hurricane Ida flood damage. It was the first of four scheduled Youth Days of Service to engage youth in the EPA Conference’s Project Restoration.

Project staff and Otterbein’s pastor, the Rev. Debra Stevens (who was also working on her day off) labored alongside the dedicated teenagers and their youth ministers from Wayne, West Chester and Grove UMCs. They completed painting and other repairs in a large, once-devastated basement room that will soon house the church’s much-missed Mission Closet once again.  Now it awaits professionals to come restore the floors and ceiling.

Three more Youth Days of Service are scheduled for the other three districts on non-school days:

Youth from those districts’ churches are urged to REGISTER and participate.

Look for more coverage next week of Project Restoration’s mission partnership efforts at Otterbein UMC and in communities still trying to rebound from hurricane-caused flooding.
