A Call to Prayer for General Conference (2024) and for EPA’s Delegates
Judy Ehninger, Eastern PA’s delegation leader to The United Methodist Church’s General & Northeastern Jurisdictional conferences, shares a General Conference prayer calendar when she talks with groups about the denomination’s quadrennial conferences. The postponed 2020 General Conference will meet in Charlotte, North Carolina April 23 to May 3, 2024, for a total of 11 days. The prayer calendar add three days for delegates’ preparation and travel.
General Conference comprises 862 delegates (half clergy, half laity). Forty-four percent come from outside the USA. Fifty-six percent are from the USA.
“Please pray daily for God’s will for The United Methodist Church,” says Judy. The calendar names particular agenda events, reports and legislation highlighted for each day, and identifies an EPA delegate to be prayed for each day. Each delegate is assigned to a specific General Conference Legislative Committee.
