When disaster strikes, early response teams can make all the difference.

Angela Overstreet, a manager for the UMCOR United States Disaster Response Training Program, is coming to Eastern Pennsylvania to teach us how to help those impacted by disaster.

When disaster strikes, Early Response Teams are those who arrive first on the scene. They focus, not on recovery, but on helping those who have been impacted by disaster to salvage and protect property and prevent future damage. This training will teach you about the role of ERT’s and how they fit into disaster response, how to “prevent further damage” and “do no harm”, as well as basic skills like simple tarping techniques, and how to provide emotional and spiritual support for those who are walking through time of great personal upheaval.

Participants will receive their ERT certification upon completion of the course.

This course will be offered as part of the 2024 Laity Academy Summer Session 2 on August 2-3 at Eastern University (1300 Eagle Rd, St Davids, PA 19087).
