Eastern PA Conference members interested in global mission can learn more directly from missionaries we support through #stillinmission weekly video chats over Zoom, sponsored by the UMC’s Global Ministries agency. Two missionaries supported by churches in our conference will talk about their lives, mission efforts and concerns in this week’s #stillinmission program on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 12 PM.
Deirdre Zimmerman (above with family) is a Nutritionist with the Nutrition Program & Consultancy Services and a Consultant Dietitian at Patan Hospital in Nepal. And Mutwale Ntambo wa Mushidi (at right, center) is the Director of Church Development and Evangelism for the United Methodist Church in Tanzania. Three other missionaries serving in other places will join them in this week’s program.
They will each talk to viewers about themselves, their call to mission and their work on behalf of the UMC in their various locations. Through “virtual itineration,” the experimental #stillinmission program allowsmissionaries to visit online with supporters and others interested in their work, unhindered by the COVID-19 pandemic’s travel restrictions.
After some time for plenary discussion on the Zoom call, the individual missionaries will move to separate breakout rooms to talk more in depth about their experiences, challenges and opportunities, while sharing testimonies and answering participants’ questions.
Registration is required for this event. When registering attendees can select Deirdre Zimmerman or The Rev. Mutwale Ntambo wa Mushidi when answering the question, “Which missionary would you like to hear more from?”
Along with these two missionaries, you can learn from and about others supported by our Conference in previously recorded #stillinmission programs.
