Back-to-back hurricanes led to widespread devastation in the south-eastern region of the United States. Recovery will take years of investment. As the body of Christ here on earth, we are called to embody hope by responding when and as we can. And sometimes, the way that we embody hope is through a joyful competition. The Cabinet of EPA is issuing a challenge to see which district can assemble the most cleaning kits. Together we can assemble and deliver 1,000 cleaning kits to Mission Central. You can find a form to register your buckets, a list of cleaning kits supplies, and drop-off locations for each district below.

District Drop-off Sites

East District: St John’s UMC, 820 Almshouse Rd, Ivyland, PA 18974. Drop off is MWF 9-1pm, and Saturday 9am-3pm. Please call or email ahead to let them know you are coming 215-357-6998 or office.stjumc@gmail.com

South District: Drexel Hill UMC, 600 Burmont Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026. Please call A DAY IN ADVANCE to let the church office know you are coming, 610)259-2104.

Drop off times are:

  • Tuesday, November 12, 3pm to 6pm
  • Monday, November 18, 10am to 1pm
  • Tuesday, November 19, 3pm to 6pm
  • Monday, November 25, 10am to 1 pm
  • Friday, November 29, 10am to 1 pm
  • Saturday, November 30, 10am to 1pm 

North District: Wesley UMC 2540 Center St, Bethlehem PA 18017. Please call ahead to let them know you are coming. 610-865-5717.

Drop off times: Mon- Thur 10am-1pm.

West District: West Dist: Wesley UMC 40 W Main St, Strasburg PA 17579. Please call the church office prior to dropping off buckets. Joyce Mayne 717-687-6392

Drop off is Tues, Wed, and Friday 9am to 2pm

Drop off instructions for West District: Park in the parking lot behind the church and come in the back entrance. Put buckets into our fellowship hall which is to the right.

Cleaning Kit Materials

Cleaning Kits packed by the Cabinet, on their way to Mission Central.
  • One five-gallon round bucket with re-sealable lid (14.35” h x 12.19” w x 12.19” d)
    • No screw lids
    • May be used, but must be free from all residual product
    • Advertisements on the outside acceptable
  • One 32-64 oz. bottle liquid laundry detergent
  • One 16-40 oz. bottle liquid concentrate household cleaner
    • No spray cleaners
  • One 16-34 oz. bottle dish soap
  • One 4-8 oz. pump spray air freshener (liquid, not gel)
  • One 6-14 oz. pump spray insect repellent (pack of 10-20 wipes also acceptable)
    • Pump spray bottles must have protective covers
  • One scrub brush
    • With or without handle
  • 18 re-useable cleaning wipes
    • No terrycloth, microfiber or paper towels
    • Remove from packaging
  • Five scouring pads
    • No stainless-steel pads with soap in them
    • Remove from packaging
  • 36-50 clothespins
  • One 50-100 ft. clothesline (cotton or plastic line)
  • 24 roll of heavy-duty trash bags (33-45-gallon sizes)
    • Remove from packaging
  • Five N95 particulate respirator dust masks (1-3 mm thickness)
    • No surgical masks
  • Two pairs kitchen gloves
    • Durable for multiple uses
    • Remove from packaging
  • One pair work gloves
    • Cotton with leather palm or all leather
