Philadelphia and the East District will get their first Four Stations of the Holy Spirit bilingual lay evangelism training event on Saturday, July 20, at Mount Zion UMC, 1530 N 11th Street (at Oxford St.), Philadelphia. It will be offered in English and Spanish.
Churches in the West, North and South districts have hosted five of these well-attended, inspiring, instructional gatherings since January 2018. They are sponsored by the Eastern PA Conference’s Congregational Development Team.
The half-day training event, lasting from 8:30 AM to noon, teaches primarily lay people to 1) pray one-on-one with others; 2) anoint others with oil; 3) serve Communion wherever and whenever people need it; and 4) help those in search of “newness of life” in Christ to affirm their baptism. Some clergy also attend, eager to introduce the ministry to their congregations.
The sacramental teachings are rooted in biblical theology and seek to recapture our Wesleyan heritage of empowering lay evangelism. There are always candid questions, concerns, opinions, suggestions and testimonies. Participants engage in one-on-one practice sessions, anointing and sharing Communion with each other.

Las 4 Estaciones del Espíritu Santo a ofrecerse en el Distrito Este el 20 de Julio
Filadelfia y el Distrito Este ofrecerán su primer evento de entrenamiento bilingüe para el laicado Las Cuatro Estaciones del Espíritu Santo el Sábado 20 de Julio en Mount Zion UMC, 1530 N 11th Street (at Oxford St.), Filadelfia. Se ofrecerá en Inglés y Español.
Las iglesias de los distritos Oeste, Norte y Sur han ofrecido cinco de estos inspiradores, educativas y muy bien atendidas reuniones desde Enero del 2018. Han sido auspiciadas por el Equipo de Desarrollo Congregacional de la Conferencia del Este de PA.
El entrenamiento de mediodía será de 8:30 AM hasta las 12:00 enseñando primordialmente al laicado a 1) orar uno-a-uno con otras personas; 2) ungir con aceite; 3) servir la Comunión donde y a quien lo necesite; y 4) ayudar en la búsqueda de “nueva vida” en Cristo al afirmar el bautismo. Algunas personas del clero también estuvieron presentes saliendo ansiosas por introducir el ministerio en sus congregaciones.
Las enseñanzas sacramentales están arraigadas en la teología bíblica y busca recapturar nuestra herencia Wesleyana de empoderar al laicado para el evangelismo. Siempre hay preguntas francas, preocupaciones, opiniones, sugerencias y testimonios. Cada participante se envuelve en sesiones de practica uno-a-uno, ungimiento y compartimiento de la comunión.
