FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) announced that federal disaster assistance is now available in Pennsylvania to supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas affected by severe wind and flooding due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida. Those storms struck our area in early September. 

Individual Assistance (IA) will aid individuals and households needing emergency repairs or replacement of homes damaged by Ida’s remnants throughout Southeastern PA. It is available to qualified residents of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, Philadelphia, and York Counties.

Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance by registering online at https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 TTY for the hearing and speech impaired. Operators can also answer questions about applications already submitted.

Assistance with damages to a business or private non-profits, such as churches, is provided by the Small Business Administration (SBA). These entities are not eligible for FEMA Individuals and Households Program (IHP) which is for home and personal property assistance. The SBA provides low interest loans to help with disaster related damage not covered under FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program (IHP).
