Recent Events & Activities

CR/CC Ministry Support Pilot Program

  • CR/CC Training & Resource Teams met on March 16 with Grace Pak which was held by ZOOM.  So far, they have conducted 8 trainings with approximately 200 people being reached with the training.   
  • CR/CC Mentoring Teams are operating as directed by District Superintendents.  The matter of engagement is being directed by the DS.  

CORR & Prison Ministry and Restorative Justice Team co-hosted the True Justice film viewing and discussion event on February 22, 2020.  Approx. 150 people were in attendance

AC Monitoring – a plan presented has been adopted by Conference Sessions for AC 2020

Upcoming Events & Activities

CR/CC Ministry Support Pilot Program:

  • CR/CC Ministry Support teams will be meeting with Dr. Grace Pak of GCORR on April 29 for evaluation of the pilot program so far.  It has been just shy of 1 year since the first team was trained and deployed.
  • June 6th CR/CC Ministry Annual Workshop will be held @ Covenant UMC (Lancaster, PA), 8:30-3:00.  All CR/CC clergy and church leadership are expected to attend – both new appointments, and seasoned appointments as well as those interested and preparing for CR/CC Ministry. (See attached flyer)

Rescheduled – Racism, Post Traumatic Stress and Transformation workshop, from March 28 to October 17, 2020, 8:30-3pm @ Simpson House – registration open

Postponed: Clergy of Color Retreat, originally scheduled for May 22-23, 2020 @ Mariawald Renewal Center – (by invitation)   

ON HOLDWaking Up White Book Study (4 sessions) for Euro-American CORR members, CR/CC Trainers and CR/CC Mentors.  All Euro-Americans in these groups are expected/anticipated to participate.  A POC CORR member will serve as a POC Monitor for this study.

Celebrating Our Cultures Event, Sept. 12, 2020 @ Camp Innabah

ON HOLDWe are currently exploring a Racial Justice & History field trip in collaboration with the Urban Commission to Montgomery, Alabama and other sites across the south. This trip may be held in the next year. 

 Emotional Intelligence Workshop is scheduled for Saturday,  September 26, 2020, Location: TBD 

Whites Confronting Racism group will continue to be supported by CORR as future direction is envisioned and implemented.  A liaison member will join the CORR for the 2020-2024 quadrennium.

  • Prison Ministry and Restorative Justice event 2/22/2020

Ongoing Collaboration:

  • CR/CC Ministry Support Pilot Program strongly recommends all parties entering a new appointment as well as existing CR/CC Ministries to attend the education opportunities offered by Healing the Wounds of Racism Core Team – Dismantling Racism- 3 Day workshop and Dismantling Racism II workshops and Connectional Ministry’s educational events, the Faith Sharing Workshop and Emotional Intelligence Workshop

Future Collaboration:

  • Urban Commission field trip to racial justice related sites across the south including Montgomery AL
  • Celebrating Our Cultures Bar-B-Que is in collaboration with the racial ethnic groups throughout our conference.

Call to Action Reporting is done in collaboration and with input from all Connectional Ministries, Districts Superintendents, the Bishop’s office, and Conference Administrative offices.
