Helen L. Adams

I was appointed to Stehman Memorial UMC, West District, in 2008 as a part-time local pastor. I was ordained in 2015. I currently serve St. Mark’s UMC in Mount Joy, West District. I’ll never forget St. Mark’s worshiping outside for a year during the height of Covid, highlighted by a Christmas night parking-lot service in a surprise snowstorm. I still cry every time I see the video of us socially distanced in the snow and gale-force winds, singing “Silent Night.” In retirement, my husband, Marvin Adams, and I look forward to living closer to our daughter and my parents, and we’re looking forward to whatever God has for us next!

Truman Brooks III

I thank God every day for my call to ministry. It has led me to serve urban, suburban, and county seat churches in and around the Philadelphia area. I’ve written a religion column in several local newpapers, taught in our conference’s local pastors school, and traveled to Kenya 6 times to help a local pastors school. I’ve served for over 40 years as a counselor/director at Innabah and Gretna Glen. What a wild ride! I thank my wife Roseann for taking every step of the journey with me. We are now discerning where God will lead us.

After 28 years of meaningful service in Christ’s name, one as a direct hire and 27 under appointment, with the last 14 years lived out with the faithful disciples of Jesus at Effort UMC, I am now, with a full heart, stepping away from local church ministry.

I am excited to see where the Lord will lead as he has faithfully done for these many years. I anticipate, as long as my health holds out, teaching TESOL, playing music, trying new wood projects, homesteading at “Pleasant Boundaries” (Psalm 16:6), enjoying visiting siblings, our children and grandchildren and laughing A LOT!

Andrew Krpata (Andy)

Under the provisions of the Discipline, I am blessed to have served 27 years cumulatively in full-time ministry and retire only to continue in my call to the Church as a pastoral coach (akin to life coaching). My personal life mission is to grow people into the fullness of Whose they are. I pray I have done that faithfully by serving my first year in the North Carolina Conference and the remaining years here in EPA. Many of those years were spent serving alongside wonderful staff and motivated lay people. I am thankful. Being 53, I will continue to live out God’s mission in me for many years to come, as expressed in my calling to love and support the Church in a new way. Prayers welcome. You have mine.

In June, I will complete 24 years in full-time pastoral ministry. Prior to that, I was an active lay person in the United Methodist Church. I have been blessed to serve God in a variety of ways over the years.

I grew up in Lancaster, Pa and have completed degrees from Lancaster Bible College, Lancaster Theological Seminary and Wesley Theological Seminary. I served as Associate Pastor at West Lawn UMC for 9 years and, in June, will complete 15 years serving Cedarville UMC.

I am blessed to share life with my husband of almost 50 years. We give thanks for our two adult children, our son-in-law and our six grandchildren and look forward to spending more time with them!

Reginald A. Monte Jr.

“It’s truly been a joy serving God and God’s people in the North Philadelphia section of Eastern Pa. While in seminary, I came to Haven Penial in 2003 as the Associate Pastor. I was then appointed to Mid-town Parish UMC in March of 2004 where we raised funds for the church to purchase and move into their new modular building. In 2014 I was appointed to Mount Zion UMC where we made many improvements to the physical plant. But the greatest joy was seeing God’s people encouraged, uplifted, spiritual growth, and souls saved. I plan to continue teaching and preaching in retirement.”

Steven Charles Morton

Born in New Jersey but really a lifelong product of the Eastern PA Conference (West Chester UMC, Camp Innabah, ordained & married in the Albright College chapel), my forty-year career has included three local church appointments, a season on the cabinet, and now the launch of the Leadership Development office.  Across those years, I was privileged to serve on the Cornwall Manor Board of Trustees, the Mid-Atlantic Foundation board, the Duke Divinity School alumni council, and to teach leadership courses at West Chester University (informed by seven trips to South Africa).  My passion remains the empowerment of laity (“Everybody’s Gifted, Everybody Serves”) and the encouragement of pastors.  Joan and I will continue to move back and forth between our homes in Chester County and the Poconos, serving the Church but spending more time with our granddaughter, attending Phillies games, visiting wineries & Williamsburg, and taking walks in the woods.

Timothy Stewart

During the past fifteen years I have had the honor of serving God as a local licensed pastor.  I began my ministry as a bi-vocational pastor.  As such my first two appointments (Salem UM – Pottstown and Wissinoming UM – Phila) were quarter-time.  After my retirement from secular work, I requested to be moved to a half-time appointment.  I have served our Lord Jesus in this capacity for the last five years at Calvary UM.

My wife, Melanie, and I have been blessed by God, through Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit in so many ways.  While I will miss this ministry the Lord has given us the assurance that it is time to retire due to health and family issues.

I have been blessed to serve four amazing congregations over the past 41 years: Stroudsburg: First UMC (Associate), Shoemakersville: Salem UMC, Fairless Hills: Christ UMC, and Jarrettown UMC. It is a joy to see people accept Jesus as their savior, to grow deeper in their faith as disciples, and live out their faith every day! I love to see how God works in people’s lives! I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, traveling to experience God’s beautiful creation, sharing in mission work, and taking long walks on the beach. God is good! All the time!

I’m retiring after 35 years of FT, 2 years PT,  and 3 years pastoring in seminary for a total of 40 years of pastoral ministry.   Eight years as volunteer Conference Youth Coordinator building a youth rally to 1,000 people and creating the paid conference youth coordinator position.  2 years as Jurisdictional youth coordinator. More than 20 years serving on the Camp and Retreat Board, including serving as vice-chair and chair helping the camps reduce their debt burden.  Giving thanks for recovery and a return to ministry.  I’m hoping to serve as a PT pastor and develop a photography ministry.
