Collegeville, Pa., will host The Wall That Heals October 26 to 29, at Anderson Farm Park. This three-quarter-scale Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and its mobile education center spread the healing legacy of “The Wall,” which stands in our nation’s capital, and educates the public about the impact of the Vietnam War.

The free public exhibit, which has toured the country for 28 years, is visiting 31 communities this year to honor the 50th anniversary of the U.S. peace settlement and our evacuation from Vietnam in 1973. It will be open 24 hours a day beginning Thursday, October 26, at 8:00 a.m., until its closing Sunday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. See the Escort Route HERE.

Pastor Scott Johnson, a Certified Lay Minister serving Charlestown UMC, invited his congregation to be a donating Community Sponsor of the exhibit and also to provide onsite hospitality as volunteers.
The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War, and it bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

“Although sponsoring the exhibit is not church-related, I see it as support for those in our community harmed during and after the war,” said Johnson, who serves on EPA’s Board of Trustee and Prison Ministry & Restorative Justice Team. “In the 1960s and years after, there was a lot of turmoil and division, which added to the pain and slowed healing.”
