For pastors, church staff, and faith leaders, the seasons of Lent, Holy Week, and Easter can be profoundly impactful and deeply resonant, while at the same time bringing with them a deep level of physical and mental exhaustion. A 7-week series of yoga classes being offered to Eastern PA pastors and church ministry leaders for a discounted fee may lead to the rest and spiritual renewal some need. The classes will meet during Eastertide, conveniently via Zoom, on Wednesday mornings, April 3 to May 15, at 9 a.m.

“This is an awesome opportunity, folks!” said the Rev. Jenny Freymoyer, West District Superintendent, in announcing guided yoga instruction and practice, with “gentle movements and contemplative prayer,” for pastors and church ministry leaders. The discounted fee for the group sessions via Zoom is only $30 for the full seven weeks.

“Together we can seek the renewing joy of resurrection, exploring the theme of joy as a spiritual practice,” said the Rev. Melissa Madara, who will lead the sessions, offering a blend of restorative yoga and gentle hatha (active) yoga. A Deacon in the Susquehanna Conference and a certified Spiritual Director, she founded and directs Sacred SoulScapes in Hummelstown, PA, where she is also on staff at Trinity United Methodist Church.

EPA pastors and church ministry leaders are invited to participate at a significantly discounted rate of $30 for the full seven weeks, thanks to a generous Drendall Grant from Mt. Gretna UMC. To register, visit www.sacredsoulscapes.org/challenge-page/searchingforjoy. Enter the code “EPACLERGY24” at checkout. CEUs are available.

The yoga classes are appropriate for all levels, and beginners are welcome. Also included is one optional individual session of spiritual direction, plus a weekly, written meditation for use in spiritual practice.
