Congregational Trauma, Resilience, and Healing

Groups as well as individuals can suffer the adverse effects of trauma. This advanced sexual ethics workshop equips participants to recognize congregational trauma and to implement practices to increase resilience and healing within a congregation. Participants are expected to spend 2.5 hours preparing for the workshop through readings, videos, and other resources and 3 hours meeting via Zoom.

Workshop leader: The Rev. Dr. Darryl W. Stephens is a nationally recognized speaker and workshop leader with expertise in healthy boundaries for ministry, social ethics, and United Methodist theology and polity. He is the author of over fifty articles, chapters, and books for scholarly and church audiences, including the 2021 spiritual growth study, Bearing Witness in the Kin-dom, published by United Women in Faith. He is the current chair of the Order of Deacons in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the UMC and serves as Director of United Methodist Studies at Lancaster Theological Seminary.
