Recognizing and Responding to Microaggression

The Eastern PA Conference Healing the Wounds of Racism Commission will sponsor in January its first Dismantling Racism II workshop, established by the 2019 Annual Conference as a much-needed, advanced anti-racism training for those members who have taken the basic Dismantling Racism I weekend training. This one-day, inaugural training will happen on Saturday, Jan. 25, (Snow Date: Feb. 1), from 9 AM to 3 PM, at St. Matthew’s UMC, Valley Forge, 600 Walker Road, Wayne, PA. Registration cost: $15 (includes lunch and materials)

This workshop is for anybody desiring to increase their anti-racism competency and to participate in the quest to dismantle racism in the Eastern PA Conference, including its churches, agencies and the communities they serve. The focus will be on the microaggressions that People of Color often experience in their ordinary activities and encounters at church, at work or school, or in the community. Special attention will be given to how Euro-American allies can recognize and respond to microaggressions in support of the Persons of Color who are subjected to them. Register today.
