Justice For Our Neighbors of the Delaware Valley (Delaware Valley JFON) is a new non-profit immigration ministry located at Historic St. George’s UMC in Philadelphia that serves migrant communities in Southeastern PA, Southern New Jersey, Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The Rev. Mark Salvacion (left), St. George’s pastor, is the executive director and immigration attorney.

Delaware Valley JFON hopes to focus its efforts on underserved rural farming communities within the Delaware Valley, including Kennett Square PA, Hammonton NJ, and Georgetown DE. The National JFON organization includes 18 other affiliates serving immigrant communities in Texas, New York, Arizona, California and Hawaii and other states.

Delaware Valley JFON is in the process of raising funds for its 2019-2020 operating expenses. Its goal is to raise at least $100,000 to $120,000 in the coming months to support legal representation of immigrants, organizational development and community outreach through 2020.

Delaware Valley JFON has qualified for a matching grant offered by the National JFON organization that will match up to $40,000 raised by Delaware Valley JFON on a dollar-for-dollar basis. If the matching grant fundraising succeeds this JFON will have raised its first $80,000 in operating funds. This represents strong support by donors and the national organization, said Salvacion. The local JFON is also raising funds from diverse funding sources including individuals, granting organizations, churches and immigration-related non-profits.

Prospective donors may support Delaware Valley JFON by writing a check payable to “Delaware Valley JFON” and sending the check to Historic St. George’s UMC, 235 N. 4th Street, Philadelphia PA, 19106. Electronic donations may be made via the Historic St. George’s UMC website, www.historicstgeorges.org, by clicking on the “Donate to JFON Now” button. Historic St. George’s UMC serves as the fiscal sponsor for Delaware Valley JFON and all donations to Delaware Valley JFON are tax-exempt to the fullest extent allowed by law.
