We have received word of the death of Mrs. Eleanor F. Palmer, who died February 15, 2022. She was the wife of the late Rev. Herbert Palmer.
Her memorial service will be on Friday, March 4, at Rolling Green Memorial Park, Mausoleum 1008, West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA. Visitation with the family is scheduled for 10:00 AM. The service is scheduled for 11:00 AM. But seating in the Mausoleum is limited.
Rev. Herbert Palmer was a retired elder who served the following Eastern PA Conference churches and ministries:
- Philadelphia: Emmanuel
- Philadelphia: Sanctuary
- Philadelphia: Spring Garden
- Darby: Union Memorial
- Philadelphia: Haven Memorial
- Eastern PA Conference Consultant
- South District Superintendent
- Executive Director for United Methodist Metro Ministries
- Philadelphia: Tindley Temple
After retirement, he served as Interim Director of Urban Ministries for eight years. In 2019, the Herbert E. Palmer Award for Urban Ministry was created in his honor.
Also, several churches Rev. Palmer led in interim pulpit supply assignments have asked to be included among the list of churches they served in this updated notice. While such assignments are not included in an official clergy service record, we honor their service among these churches by listing them here:
