Recent Events & Activities

Held CORR meetings via Zoom on May 7 and June 4, 2020

CR/CC Ministry Support Pilot Program:

  • CR/CC Ministry Support teams will be met with Dr. Grace Pak of GCORR on April 29 for evaluation of the pilot program so far.  It was just shy of 1 year since the first team was trained and deployed.
  • June 6th CR/CC Ministry Annual Workshop was held via Zoom 9:00-12:30.  All newly appointed CR/CC clergy and church leadership were expected to attend – as well as the CR/CC Mentors assigned to those churches)
  • CR/CC Training & Resource Team is offering an Intercultural Competency Workshop Saturday, August 15, 2020 9:00-12:30 via Zoom – Open to all interested in growing in intercultural competence.  PenDel Conference CR/CC team invited – Registration open on conference website: spots are limited, register early.  Flyer: Intercultural-Competency-Workshop-8_15_20.pdf

CORR Team members are participating in the Fight for Floyd mobilizing for change effort in leadership and through participation with the various committees.  This work is ongoing.

Waking Up White Book Study (4 sessions) for Euro-American CORR members, CR/CC Trainers and CR/CC Mentors began July 7th and will continue weekly each Tuesday in July.  Many Euro-Americans in these groups are participating.  A POC CORR member is serve as a POC Monitor for this study.

RESCHEDULED – Racism, Post Traumatic Stress and Transformation workshop, from March 28 to October 17, 2020, 9:00am-2:00pm via Zoom.  Currently exploring the opportunity to offer Spanish language translation – registration open.  Flyer: 2020-10-Racism-Trauma-Event-Flyer.pdf

POSTPONED: Clergy of Color Retreat, originally scheduled for May 22-23, 2020 @ Mariawald Renewal Center. Options are being explored.

Upcoming Events & Activities
  • Next meeting scheduled for Thursday, September  3, 2020 @ 1:00-2:30pm via Zoom.  The CORR team will meet monthly on the first Thursday of each month, September-June @ 1:00-2:30pm.
  • Emotional Intelligence Workshop is scheduled for Saturday,  September 26, 2020, Location: TBD – May become a digital offering

Collaborations

Ongoing Collaboration:

  • CR/CC Ministry Support Pilot Program strongly recommends all parties entering a new appointment as well as existing CR/CC Ministries to attend the education opportunities offered by Healing the Wounds of Racism Core Team – Dismantling Racism- 3 Day workshop and Dismantling Racism II workshops and Connectional Ministry’s educational events, the Faith Sharing Workshop and Emotional Intelligence Workshop
  • Whites Confronting Racism cohort will continue to be supported by CORR as future direction is envisioned and implemented.  A liaison member will join the CORR for the 2020-2024 quadrennium
  • Fight for Floyd mobilizing for change effort is an ongoing collaboration with the Urban Commission

Future Collaboration:

  • Urban Commission field trip to racial justice related sites across the south including Montgomery AL
  • Celebrating Our Cultures Bar-B-Que is in collaboration with the racial ethnic groups throughout our conference.
