Online Giving Page

“In these changing times, the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference is pleased to offer an online giving option to aid local churches,” announced James Brown, conference Treasurer in May. The conference has created a giving page on its website to allow members, visitors and donors to easily contribute online to congregations by selecting from a menu of participating churches.

Simple electronic funds transfer process: To participate in the program, a local church must simply complete the electronic funds transfer form and return it to the conference accounting office. The conference Treasurer’s office will process and deposit gifts into the church’s designated bank account weekly. A contribution report will then be sent to the church.

No fees charged for online giving set-up or transactions: While online giving services typically charge transaction fees for each donation, and some also charge a set-up fee, Eastern PA Conference churches will be spared such expenses, thanks to the Mid-Atlantic United Methodist Foundation (MAUMF).

NEW: You can now use this portal to make donations to Annual Conference Offerings, since we will not be meeting in person this year.

Bishop’s Letter: Fundraising Appeal for Camps

August 27, 2020

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.   Jeremiah 29:11 (NRSV)

Greetings to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Community.

It is my prayer that your summer has given you opportunities for worship, ministry with the poor, dismantling racism and time for vacation. I appreciate so much the ways our pastors, lay members and churches have continued to adjust to these ever-changing times and challenges. Through the Lord’s plans for your welfare, you have found a “way out of no way” in the strength of the Spirit.

It is with faith in the power of the Spirit that I write to you on behalf of our Camp and Retreat Ministries. We have four vibrant and unique camps–Carson-Simpson Farm Christian Center, Innabah, Gretna Glen and Pocono Plateau–that fall within the bounds of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. They have long served as important mission extension outposts for our churches and the greater community. They are one of the most effective evangelism tools we have.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, all four camps were forced to cancel many of their scheduled retreats and the weekly summer camps that so many children, families, staff and volunteers look forward to. Thus, we have had to make very difficult, painful decisions around finances.

The federal government’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans helped a great deal in the spring, and our Conference Council on Finance and Administration provided additional funds to help our camps cover their costs through the summer. But as we move into the fall, we know that trying to maintain even our most basic camp centers’ staff and services would result in a budget deficit.

Thus, I am asking you-churches, members and friends of our Conference-to embrace a vision of what it would look like if every church would donate $300 to support our camp centers and avoid a budget shortfall. Such well-deserved generosity would help them with their already scaled-back payroll needs through the rest of this year and provide some funds to help them plan, resource and launch a new year of exciting retreats and camping adventures in 2021.

Give to the Eastern PA Conference

“You can’t beat God’s giving,” goes the old song, “no matter how hard you try.”

The opportunity to give, to share gifts from our God-given abundance that can benefit others–especially others in need–is a blessing. And indeed, we are “blessed to be a blessing.” Through our generosity we manifest our gratitude to God and our commitment to Christ’s teaching, as illustrated profoundly in Matthew 25. When we give it is a sign and symbol of our loving compassion, the works of our faith and our responsible stewardship of God’s gifts.

The Eastern PA Conference and the larger United Methodist Church offer many giving opportunities, many ministries and financial needs for assistance that depend on the generosity of God’s people. Thank you for visiting this page and for prayerfully considering how you can help.

Conference Advance Special Mission Projects

Conference Advance Specials is a missional stewardship program of second-mile giving by generous churches, groups and individuals to support primarily local ministries.  Churches that want to give to support Conference Advance Specials should first fulfill their primary connectional stewardship commitments to the conference and general church by remitting apportioned funds and direct bill payments.

Conference Advance Special mission projects are approved and promoted by the Annual Conference to seek donated funds from local churches through designated giving. Churches should send donated funds, using the monthly remittance system, to the Conference Treasurer’s Office, which will account for them and then transfer them to the designated project.
