Giving

“You can’t beat God’s giving,” goes the old song, “no matter how hard you try.”

The opportunity to give, to share gifts from our God-given abundance that can benefit others–especially others in need–is a blessing. And indeed, we are “blessed to be a blessing.” Through our generosity we manifest our gratitude to God and our commitment to Christ’s teaching, as illustrated profoundly in Matthew 25. When we give it is a sign and symbol of our loving compassion, the works of our faith and our responsible stewardship of God’s gifts.

The Eastern PA Conference and the larger United Methodist Church offer many giving opportunities, many ministries and financial needs for assistance that depend on the generosity of God’s people. Thank you for visiting this page and for prayerfully considering how you can help. All checks should be made out to Eastern PA Conference and mailed to the Eastern PA Conference, P.O. Box 820, Valley Forge, PA 19482-0820.

Conference Advance Special Mission Projects

Conference Advance Specials is a missional stewardship program of second-mile giving by generous churches, groups and individuals to support primarily local ministries.  Churches that want to give to support Conference Advance Specials should first fulfill their primary connectional stewardship commitments to the conference and general church by remitting apportioned funds and direct bill payments.

Conference Advance Special mission projects are approved and promoted by the Annual Conference to seek donated funds from local churches through designated giving. Churches should send donated funds, using the monthly remittance system, to the Conference Treasurer’s Office, which will account for them and then transfer them to the designated project.

2017-18 ADVANCE SPECIAL APPLICATION

Due no later than April 15

Dear Pastors, Program Directors, and Leaders of Mission and Ministry:

Greetings to you, in the name of our risen Christ. We hope you are having a good year in ministry.

Thank you, and thank God, for the ministries in which you are involved. We trust that they are fulfilling their mission in the service of God’s people. It is time again, as our Annual Conference approaches, for ministries and projects that wish to receive direct, second-mile funding support from our local churches to complete and submit applications for Advance Special status. That status must be approved by a resolution and vote at Annual Conference, which will meet June 15-17 this year.

But first, we must receive and examine all completed applications, and then decide which ones to recommend for approval. This year’s application deadline is April 15.

Please download, print, complete and submit the application form as soon as possible. You may submit your application in one of three ways: via e-mail, postal mail or fax. You should find all the information you need on the form.

Please start now, and make sure we receive your completed application forms before the April 15 due date. Thank you for your consideration and help.

Peace,
Rev. David J. Davis. [dnavdave@gmail.com] Eastern PA Conference Secretary for Global Ministries
