“We’re hoping for a good turnout for our next spiritual retreat for EPA pastors June 5th at Paoli UMC,” writes the Rev. Steve Morton, who helps to promote the monthly retreats led by the Rev. Peter Jamieson. “So, before you slip into summer, come spend part of your day in fellowship with EPA colleagues, where you Belong” (EPA’s 2024 Annual Conference theme). Register here.
In addition to relaxed discourse and meditative prayer on Paoli UMC’s scenic campus, the retreat—on Wednesday, June 5, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.—will feature a reflective Labyrinth walk led by the Rev. Karen Bartkowski, pastor of Conshohocken UMC.
And the Rev. Allen Keller, a deacon serving at West Chester UMC, will lead the group in a closing celebration of Communion. Keller is also lead case manager for EPA’s disaster response ministry, Project Restoration.
After a summer break, the first-Wednesdays monthly retreats will resume:
- September 4 at Epworth UMC in Bethlehem; and
- October 2 at Eastern PA’s Conference Center in Valley Forge.
“The clergy retreat provided a much-needed respite from my daily routine, allowing me an opportunity to immerse myself in God’s Word, deepen fellowship with brothers and sisters, and experience the Lord Jesus Christ at His table,” said the Rev. Zim Khan, pastor at Gravel Hill UMC, after the April retreat. “This gathering is a profound reminder of the peace and renewal that can come from slowing down, stepping back and focusing on our spiritual journey collectively.”
