A Warm Welcome from Cherry Lane UMC
Step into the heart of Tannersville, PA, where Cherry Lane United Methodist Church has been a beacon of warmth, service and fellowship since 1866. Our story is woven from generations of caring neighbors, joyful gatherings, and a spirit that connects us to United Methodist churches throughout the Poconos.
Our Journey Together
From humble beginnings – a gift of land and a simple building without running water – our church family has grown together, literally and figuratively. With every addition, from bathrooms to classrooms and even adding a basement by raising the entire church, members and neighbors have worked side by side, dreaming of a future ministry and shared mission. In 2000, membership finally outgrew our existing building and our church was rebuilt, a testament to our unity and vision for the years ahead.
More Than a Building – A Community in Action
Cherry Lane UMC is more than bricks and mortar. We are a vibrant family, traveling on mission trips, partnering with local schools and churches and sharing in the joys of community outreach. We enjoy a special connection with Pocono Plateau Camp and Retreat Center, which provides retreats, day events, school field trips and homeschool events and especially, a variety of summer camps for kids of all ages.
Celebrating Our Story All Year Long
This year, we’re celebrating our story in creative ways! Each month, we’re hosting events highlighting our history, welcoming past pastors and local historians to our pulpit and, of course, sharing fellowship and meals – because nothing brings people together like good food and great conversation.
