Allentown: Emmanuel is a small elderly church seeking a part-time pastor in Pennsylvania’s third-largest city of Allentown. Sharing space with a Spanish-speaking United Methodist congregation, both congregations have worked together with an urban grant to start ministries in Allentown with Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley and South Mountain Middle School. Worship attendance is 20-30 people that also worship live on Facebook with active small groups during the week. The Korean United Methodist Church of Bethlehem was originally founded in 1860 and transferred to the Korean Church in 1989. This Church is appointed as a historic site by the city and the only Korean Church in the North District. This Church is located in the downtown of Bethlehem, the City of Christmas, and the full of Moravian’s legacy. Most of the members are first-generation immigrants and Korean students from Lehigh University. Although the number of immigrants is decreasing, this congregation tries to serve the Korean students and their community and keep the Korean culture and customs in their worship and fellowship.

Kulpmont UMC is located in Northumberland County, in the middle of the Coal Region.  The church building is one block north of the main street in town.  The congregation is mostly older but there are a few younger people.  They actively participate in the surrounding community by providing school supplies to the local elementary school, offering a Halloween Outreach program, collecting non-perishable food for Harvest Home, and taking generous food baskets to needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  They participate in the Mount Carmel Area Ministerium activities, which allows them further involvement in nearby communities.  The congregation desires to grow is open to change and committed to serving the Lord.

Founded in 1838, Keokee Chapel is now one of the longest-running Methodist presences in the Poconos!  Its beautiful chapel is nestled in a resort area, located off-road but worth the trip.  The congregation is caring, accepting, and expresses a family-like quality.  Keokee Chapel has one traditional worship service, is active in supporting community food ministries, and consistently offers a Bible Study class.  The congregation is hopeful for a pastor who will lead while also listening to them, someone who empowers laity to step up in ministry, and provides some in-home visits/care. Salem UMC is located in a small town about 15 miles north of Reading. Most of the members are retired but there is a strong group of younger families, too. The church has a new computer and camera setup to Livestream worship and now has many people joining and supporting the congregation from outside the local area. There are several small groups, including two via Zoom. The congregation is a big supporter of camps for our children, youth, and adults. There is a prayer shawl ministry and members support many different missions, including an annual mission trip. Every year the congregation offers several free meals to the community, including a complete Thanksgiving dinner.  The local community is very important to Salem UMC – including participating in the town Halloween event and joining with other local churches for Lenten and other special services.

St. John’s upholds traditional biblical values and recognizes the importance of reaching the world with the Gospel.  St. John’s values its Evangelical roots.  It connects with the community by holding annual Vacation Bible School, summer playground programs, supporting local food pantries, and offering a Handy Men ministry. 

Worship includes 20 to 50 people.  Small groups include Sunday School, weekly morning and evening bible studies, small group topical studies, and children’s ministry.  We partner frequently in social and missional events with the Shamokin-area UMCs. 

Three-quarter time appointment as of 7-1-22 shared among a team of pastors/staff for the immediate season (with the full intention of returning to full-time once we move out of the pandemic and potential denominational shifting).

Both churches are small rural churches in the Pocono Mountains, in Monroe County, PA, with devoted and predominantly older congregations.  The two churches combine for community events, holiday celebrations, a food pantry, and fundraising events including rummage sales. The congregations come together for many holiday services, weekly Bible study, and summer Bible School. Both churches have small choirs and a dedicated organist.  The pastor will lead traditional worship services and participate in Bible studies.  Both positions are quarter-time (half time total), with the understanding that pastoral time will be committed to primary clerical duties.

Analomink is a small, quaint one-room country church built in the shape of the cross and seats 90 people.  The congregation is actively involved in the community, handing out water at local races, joining with the Pocono cluster of UMC churches in running VBS, engaged in the food ministry, etc.  Bible studies and book studies are regularly offered.  The church is only a short distance from a large drug manufacturing company, the Tobyhanna Army Depot, and two major hospitals.

St. Paul’s originally known as The Olde Forest Church was established in 1773. The church flourished under the Methodist circuit riders.  Notable people who worshiped at Olde Forest were Bishop Francis Asbury and George Clymer, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.   This rural congregation worships on a hillside overlooking active farmland.  Congregants long for revival and the days to come that will bring more people to Christ.  They reach out to the community and desire to do the Lord’s will.  The seeds of hope planted in 1773 are stirring in the soil!

We have one traditional service Sunday morning that is also streamed live on our YouTube channel. Bridesburg UMC is located in a residential street of the Bridesburg neighborhood in the lower northeast area of Philadelphia County. Neshamony Methodist Church serves a community located along the Neshamony Creek just a few miles north of the Neshamony Mall. The church was originally built in the Horse and Buggy Era and one can see old photographs of the horses tied up in the stable during church services. The church proudly cares for its sanctuary as it is adorned with the most beautiful stained-glass windows on all four sides. Salem Church is a tight-knit family-based church in a relatively rural part of Upper Bucks County. The congregation is entirely Caucasian, though welcome to all.
