WORD MADE FLESHChrist, the word made flesh, is born among us as one of us! Rejoice! (John 1:1-18)

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:12-14)

The electronic game Simon tests our memory skills by flashing a series of light sequences. Initially we observe and follow the sequences successfully. However as more flashes are added we lose track. Our ability to follow along and keep track is naturally limited. I offer this as a somewhat lame excuse for us not doing things in the right sequence all the time.

Our natural inclination towards sin can be attributed to our limited ability to do the right things in the right order. Our flesh causes us to fail miserably when attempting to follow God’s commands. The law given through Moses therefore condemns us to the penalty of death. But salvation comes by grace and truth through Jesus Christ.

Let’s celebrate Christ’s birth and our rebirth through Him who saves!

Prayer: Dear God, we celebrate life. The life of Jesus Christ and our life through Him! Thank you for the gracious gift of your love! For You so loved the world that you gave our only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life! We celebrate today and forevermore! Amen.
