Bishop Peggy Johnson will hold town hall meetings on each district in April to discuss proposed changes that would reduce our number of districts from six to four.  Lay and clergy members are invited to these gatherings, and anyone can attend whichever meeting is most convenient.

The bishop’s cabinet is working on a model to reconfigure the conference into four districts. This will not be the same model as presented in 2013. Some of what we learned from the last plan to downsize is helping us to formulate a better plan this time.

The District Superintendents and Conference Treasurer Jim Cruickshank will join the bishop in each town hall meeting to explain the proposal, including background information, trends, answers to expected concerns and a proposed map. They will welcome suggestions and answer questions.

“We will also celebrate some of the good work that our apportionments and our districts are doing in the life of our conference and the denomination,” said Bishop Johnson.

The dates and district locations are as follows:

  • Mon. April 4, 20167:00 pm – Elam UMC (Southeast)
  • Tue. April 5, 20167:00 pm – First UMC in Phoenixville (Central)
