The Eastern PA Conference Committee on Native American Ministry (CONAM) will celebrate Native American Ministries Sunday, April 15, 4-6 PM, at Camp Innabah (712 Pughtown Road, Spring City), with a festive and informative gathering for worship, a fellowship meal and first-person accounts of UM persons and churches serving God in mission among Native peoples. The talks will feature mission efforts with the Ponca Tribe in Oklahoma, Dupree Elementary School in Dupree, S.D., and Flandreau Reservation in South Dakota. This is one of CONAM’s biannual, free special events to introduce Native American culture and concerns to conference members and friends. All local church CONAM representatives are urged to attend for information and networking. RSVP to fanderson@epaumc.org. Please download and share the event flyer.

On Saturday, April 14, the day before Native American Ministries Sunday, Lititz UMC (201 Market St., Lititz) will host the Loss of Turtle Island. It is a dramatic, interactive, multimedia demonstration by CONAM members that teaches the history and impact of Europeans’ conquest and colonization of Native peoples in the Americas and the Church’s complicity in that history. The program and lunch afterward is free; but advance registration is requested and an offering will be received to support the Blackfeet UM Parish in Browning, Mont., now struggling to care for residents who are suffering from a brutal winter season. Contact Mike Shifflet to register at mshiffty@gmail.com or 717-419-8463. Please download and share the event flyer.
