Dear Southeast District Laity and Clergy,

The District Office received word  yesterday about the Bigas Family. We give thanks and praise that the entire family was able to escape the fire, however, we ask that you lift them before our Lord in prayer during this most difficult time.

This is the information we have received from their pastor, Rev. Tom Haugh:

On Tuesday, October 13th at 4:30 AM, the Bigas Family of Mount Hope United Methodist Church (Aston) experienced the devastation of a house fire that has left them with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The fire is believed to have started in the basement of the home and quickly spread throughout the entire structure. All of the family , John, Lynne & Erich, were able to get out quickly and safely, as was the family dog, Murray.

John is currently on short term disability fighting an infection that has wreaked havoc on his knee. He will be needing a full knee replacement in the next 6 weeks and is currently in a full leg cast. Lynne has run a Daycare in her home for over 20 years and this devastation affects that income as well.

The neighborhood “family” and friends have quickly rallied around them to help wherever possible. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family as they begin to pick up the pieces and move forward.

Grace and Peace,

Lin
