August 20-23: Adult VBS at Willistown UMC

Willistown United Methodist Church Presents Adult Vacation Bible School Adult Vacation Bible School RETURNS!

On August 20, 21, 22 and 23rd at 6:30-8:00 PM

This will be the 3rd year that Willistown United Methodist Church held its Adult Vacation Bible School. This unique event will run from Monday through Thursday. The first and second years of the event, Pastor Jim Wilkin noted that the attendance and reaction of our “students” far exceeded his expectations. He said, “Guests from neighboring churches and WUMC congregation members came out each night in a large numbers. Everyone enjoyed being active and embracing the opportunity to learn new things with friends.” All activities and crafts are “Adult-Friendly”!

This year’s theme is, “Love as a Child” and will be carried throughout the four evenings with a child’s characteristics: Kindness, Giving, Honoring, and Friendship. Scripture again will drive the music, stories, crafts, games, and even the snacks. Craft projects are a secret right now but might include finger-labyrinths, clay projects, creating journals and writing prayers! One of last year’s guests, a young 83, said she loved the fun and fellowship of creating unique art pieces. “The old-time songs from childhood bible camp brought back many fond memories.”

In addition to making unique pieces to take home, crafts will also be donated to a mission project or sold at a later date to fund an outreach activity. Where else can you have fun and help our local families in need!

Other churches in the area have “borrowed” the idea to use in their congregations. One pastor from the Reading area was very excited about the endeavor and saw an opportunity in the future for “cross-generational” fellowship by inviting all ages to attend.
