The Rev. William (Bill) Hahn Blose, 74, died July 1, 2014, at home in Media, PA, after a long illness. Born in Bethlehem, PA, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and Master of Divinity and Philosophy degrees from Drew University.
Ordained in 1965, Blose served UM Churches for 39 years total. From 1966 to 1994 he served at
Port Carbon: First UMC, Lansford UMC, Birdsboro: Focht Memorial UMC, Gordon: Simpson UMC, Barry: Salem UMC, Reading: Park UMC, Slatedale: Salem UMC, Emerald: St. Peter’s UMC, Shamokin: Lincoln Street UMC, Phila.: Trinity UMC (Castor), and Phila.: Summerfield UMC.
After retirement in 1998, he served at Parkside UMC and was an adjunct professor of theology, philosophy, and ethics at Alvernia College’s Philadephia campus in 1998-2010.
His hobbies and passions included trains and trolleys, traveling, reading, playing woodwind instruments in bands and orchestras, and singing in choirs.
Rev. Blose is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, the Rev. Janet K. Hess, of Media, his son David A. Blose, of Columbus, Ohio, and his daughter, Karin E. Blose, of Reading, along with several cousins.
