Word has been received that Dorothy F. Mark, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 5, 2014.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the wife of the late Rev. Harry C. Mark and the daughter of the late William R. and Eva Minerva Peifer Lesher. Her husband served Lebanon: Bethany and Neffsville United Methodist churches in the Eastern PA Conference, and Royalton and Union Court United Methodist churches now in the Susquehanna Conference. He died in 1999.
Mrs. Mark was a resident of Lancaster County since 1952. From her teenage years until she was 90, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School at various churches. She was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Missionary Society. After her retirement, she belonged to Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church in Lititz. She enjoyed knitting, was a skilled seamstress, hostess and baker.
She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor. She is survived by her daughter, Annetta M. Elmer of Lancaster, PA; a sister, Loretta Boyles of Honea Path, SC; two grandchildren, Mark A., husband of Melinda S. Elmer, and Gary E., husband of Peggy A. Elmer, all of Lititz; nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Leland, and her brother, Earl Lesher.
