The Rev. Greg Ellis, Coordinator of the Eastern PA Conference Disaster Ministry and UM Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) has a new job. He will join UMCOR (the UM Committee on Relief) as the United States Disaster Response (USDR) Program Manager/Response Specialist. Ellis, a deacon also serving at Asbury UMC in Allentown, will relocate to the Atlanta, Ga., headquarters of UMCOR’s parent agency, UM Global Ministries,  Jan. 22.

Prior to becoming the Conference Disaster Response and UMVIM Coordinator in  2014-2015, “Deacon Greg” was the Northeast District Disaster Response Coordinator. “I have felt a call to disaster relief and response for most of my life,” he says.” The multiple ways to serve has helped me live out the call since I was a teenager. This role is an awesome way for me to live out my ordination vows as a deacon. Providing a caring Christian presence in disaster relief and response, and empowering others to do the same, connects the church to a hurting world in a tangible way.”
