Eastern PA Conference Youth Rally
Sunday, April 24, from 3 to 7 PM, at Hopewell UMC in Downingtown.

Adam Frano, co-founder and co-director (with his wife Danielle) of Erie Young Adults (EYA) in Erie, Pa., will be our featured guest speaker. EYA, established in 2012, supports nearly 150 young adult members in their 20s and 30s by connecting them with each other to address their diverse needs and interests, including many who struggle with addictions, suicidal tendencies, loneliness, unemployment and other issues. Members of this nondenominational ministry meet every On a very special Sunday afternoon last year, over 200 youth from across the Eastern PA Conference got to do a new thing. They got to rethink and remake church in their own image, to enjoy a fresh, bold, dynamic form of worship and fellowship, of witnessing for Christ together. Loud and proud, they rocked the house at West Lawn UMC.We called it a youth rally; but it was so much more.
With energetic, faith-inspired performances by a multi-talented Christian youth band, a thought-provoking drama group’s presentation, a spiritually and socially conscious rapper and DJ, and a diverse line-up of speakers, it was all so musical, lyrical, poetic and prophetic. With heads lifted, voices raised, hands clapping, feet dancing, hearts stirring, the youth were able to experience and express their faith in ways that made it come fully alive for them.
And it was more than worth an encore.
This coming Sunday, April 24, from 3 to 7 PM, we’ll do it again. We’ll gather and welcome all to Hopewell UMC in Downingtown for our second annual Eastern PA Conference Youth Rally. If you didn’t get to attend the Peninsula-Delaware Conference Youth Rally in Ocean City in January–or even if you did–this will be a rich, rewarding example of that experience, all in one afternoon.
We’ll start with some high-energy excitement and fun, of course, featuring an optional Nerf War at 3 PM, sponsored by the Thorndale UMC youth ministry. Then the rally will kick off at 4, with plenty of music and powerful messages focusing on God’s infinite, healing, caring love for us.
Hopewell’s own #JesusTrending Christian youth band (left) will be back by popular demand to play music that will open minds and lift hearts.
We’ve got some dynamic, spiritual oratory on tap from several remarkable youth and young adults:
Scott Smith from the Philadelphia Project, who works with youth from across the city;
Anthony Washington (right), aka “Lovedapoet,” a gifted spoken-word artist from New Vision UMC;
Grace Puy (left) of Hopewell, who won the Spittin’ the Word preaching competition; and
Jenny Kang (right) of the Open Door Campus Ministry at Drexel University, who inspired listeners with her transformational story at the Peninsula-Delaware Conference Youth Rally in January.
We’ll also share a great meal together, thanks to Hopewell’s hospitality.
