The Director, Laity in Leadership – Works to fulfill the mission and vision of Discipleship Ministries (DM) by providing direction for the Office of Laity in Leadership through the development of training resources and events (i.e. webinars, conferences, podcasts, etc.) that speak to the particularities of multifaceted contexts represented within the United Methodist Church and beyond. In consultation with the General Conference Committee on Laity, these resources and events will encourage community engagement and promote relationship building, discipleship-making, and the revitalization of our faith communities.
The successful candidate must be a person of hope and vision, deeply rooted in Christian faith and practice and have a profound sense of the importance of the making of Christian disciples; demonstrated knowledge of the ministry of laity, proficiency in writing and resource development skills; thorough knowledge of The United Methodist Church structure, traditions, and theological perspectives; interpersonal skills, proficiency in communication skills both written and oral.; demonstrated cultural sensitivity; and computer and electronic media skills.
Education / Specialized Knowledge / Experience
Master’s Degree in leadership development, communication, theology, or equivalent. Specialized knowledge in church growth, leadership, and congregational development / Six to seven years of experience in the work of Leadership Development or equivalency.
