The Financial Administrator has responsibility for the day-to-day church financial tasks of the treasurer and financial secretary. This position report directly to the Pastor and is accountable to the Finance and Staff Parish Committees; while financial policy and oversight is provided by the Finance Committee,

This individual should be knowledgeable of Accounting Procedures, detail-oriented, computer literate, and able to work well with others.  In all assignments, assure compliance with all laws and regulations of the church, federal, state, and local authorities

  • Salary – $15 to $30/hour depending on experience level         
  • Hours – Approximately 10 hours per week will vary by week and season.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain bookkeeping
    • Track income and expenditures, providing a monthly repot to the varies Committees/Work Areas and Staff, and an annual report to the Audit Committee
      • Post receipts from envelopes and counter’s recording sheet
      • Reconcile counter’s sheet with bank deposit slips
      • Ensure the counter’s box is supplied for Sunday
    • Payment of bills – includes overseeing “disbursement”, “reimbursement” and “special offerings” voucher systems
  • Protect the privacy of those who financially support the church
  • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly
  • Prepare and mail statements (tithes, gifts and offerings) to membership
  • Write checks weekly, reconcile bank statements, coordinate all financial obligations of the church including but not limited to payroll, taxes, and accounts payable/accounts receivable while overseeing purchasing processes in keeping with budget controls
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and payroll tax returns, year-end 1099s and W2s
  • Coordinate the assignment of giving-envelopes to membership
  • Be available to investigate discrepancies or concerns of contributing members
  • Organize and maintain an effective filling system
  • Answer phone messages
  • Attend Finance Committee Meetings as needed
    • Resource the Treasurer
    • Resource the Chairperson of the Finance Committee
    • Assist with the Annual Stewardship Campaign
    • Assist with the development of the church operating budget
    • Assist the Investment Committee
    • Answer any questions regarding reports you have prepared
    • Carry out instructions given by the Finance Committee
  • Attend weekly Staff Meetings
  • Maintain regular office hours
