Piltz to lead Youth and Young Adult Ministries

New Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries David Piltz (rear, second from right) poses with members of the Conference Council on Youth Ministries after a recent meeting.

Longtime youth and adult ministry leader David Piltz, of Bristol Pa., is the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference’s new Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, as of Aug. 4. The Certified Lay Minister and Conference Youth Ministry Advisory Council member is a specialist and trainer in instructional design and organizational development in both church and corporate arenas.

Over two decades as a youth ministry leader, Piltz has planned, participated in and led Sunday school classes, meetings, retreats, mission trips and other events across three conferences: Wisconsin, Susquehanna (formerly Central PA) and Eastern PA. His decade of mission trip experience extends from Appalachia to Nicaragua.

He has facilitated training for youth ministry leaders and Sunday school teachers, designed and taught Safe Sanctuaries policies, and facilitated training and coaching for pastors and church staff in organizational development, conflict management and strategic planning. He also has served on a number of church committees, including Education, Staff-Parish Relations, Youth Ministry, Finance, Worship and Natural Church Development.

“I am excited to take this ministry step because it is challenging to connect various leaders in youth and young adult ministries across our large conference,” said Piltz about his new part-time position. “However, every challenge also comes with rewards. It will be amazing to work alongside others whose passion is creating opportunities for growth for youth and young adults, as we all navigate our walk together with Jesus. This is going to be fun.”

Beyond the church, Piltz specializes in instructional and organization design for corporate and academic clients. He develops games, simulations and other training and facilitation tools and tactics for interactive learning. He has designed instructor-led and computer-based training programs in leadership, change, communication, teamwork, customer service and productivity.

Piltz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering and he has completed graduate studies in administration, leadership and counseling; in industrial engineering; and in workforce education and development. The co-author of A Guide to Success for Technical Managers: Supervising in Research, Development, and Engineering, he is an expert in game design, in Neurofeedback, in coaching for executives and individuals, in the Meyers-Briggs Type Inventory for personality assessment and in several bio-energy therapies, such as Reiki. He is also completing graduate studies in Marriage and Family Therapy.
