The YES Youth Retreat, scheduled for this Saturday, April 16, has been cancelled, due to low registrations, and will be rescheduled for a Saturday in the fall.
The Eastern PA Conference Youth Rally, however, will still take place as scheduled, at Hopewell UMC in Downingtown, on Sunday, April 24, from 3 to 7 PM.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) That’s the key message of the second annual Eastern PA Conference Youth Rally.
This rally will feature Todd Waites, an extraordinary, gifted keyboardist with one arm, who plays for the contemporary Christian music group ApologetiX. Todd will perform but also share his story of how Christ enabled him to overcome adversity and find God’s blessings beyond his burdens. It’s a powerful message that many youth will want to hear and relate to their own lives.
Also appearing will be Hopewell’s UMC’s own Christian youth band, #JesusTrending, and spoken-word performances from several remarkable youth and young adults. One of those youth is Grace Puy, who just won the Spittin’ the Word speed-preaching competition in January at the Peninsula-Delaware Conference Youth Rally in Ocean City, MD.
Grace will donate her prize money to help buy food for this rally. So those who attend will eat well, as the always hospitable Hopewell plans to serve a savory feast.
And speaking of competition, there will be a “fun-tastic,” off-the-wall, take no prisoners Ultimate Nerf Battle at 3 PM, before the rally begins, just to get everyone’s collective energies flowing. Yes, participation is optional and also harmless.
The rally will kick off at 4, with great music and grace-filled messages that focus on God’s infinite, healing and caring love. More than 250 young people enjoyed last year’s lively Eastern PA Conference Youth Rally at West Lawn UMC. This one will be even better. Don’t miss it!
