And they need everyone’s help. All churches are urged to collect and bring health kit items for donation when their conference members arrive on Thursday. Deacons and other volunteers will assemble the kits on Friday, June 17 at the Annual Conference site.
“Through this service project at Annual Conference we want to help our churches connect with the world in a very tangible and practical way,” said Tiffany Manning, who chairs the conference’s Order of Deacons.
Here’s how you can participate:
- Collect supplies for UMCOR Health Kits
Before Annual Conference, invite members of your congregation to donate materials for UMCOR Health Kits. Here are the supplies we’ll be collecting: bathroom hand towels, washcloths, combs, nail clippers, bath-size bar soap, toothbrushes, adhesive bandages, and gallon-size plastic bags. Monetary donations would also be appreciated so that we can purchase additional supplies in order to complete kits. - Bring supplies to Annual Conference
On Thursday, collection bins will be available on the Freedom Hall level for your donations during registration and break times. - Help assemble the Health Kits
On Friday, June 17, the UMCOR Health Kits will be assembled beneath Freedom Hall B during the lunch break. Many hands make light work; so please stop by during lunch to help us prepare the kits for shipment to UMCOR’s depot.
