Church invites others to join its online VBS in July

In Different vacation Bible school coming this summer UM News introduces newly modified Vacation Bible School curricula and programs for churches that want to offer VBS to their children and families this summer online. At least one Eastern PA Conference church, New Hanover UMC  in Gilbertsville, will use the Backyard BOLT Towards Faithin Jesus virtual VBS offering.

“We would love to invite other churches to participate with us,” says Amy Bates, Director of New Hanover’s KidMin ministry at New Hanover UMC. Believing the adage “the more the merrier,” she and the Rev. Jose “Rickie” Ayala, lead pastor, are inviting other churches to join in their fun-filled distance learning program on July 13-16, anytime from 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM. The church will publish the day’s link at 8 AM.

“BOLT is designed for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade, but ALL ages are welcome to join in the fun!,” reads the program description.

Bates adds, “Let’s BOLT towards faith in Jesus this July! Join us in your home with the perfect balance of video delivery of content and in-person games and activities with your family and friends. Every day we will kick off the fun with our very own BOLT Team, and then it’s your turn to BOLT into action with fun games, origami crafts (with another option for the younger ones) and dive into the Bible with Christ-centered lessons.

“We want every participant to experience a heart-changing encounter with Jesus!”

The church will provide Backyard Bolt Goodie Bags for children who are registered by July 5. Here’s the link to register:
