Innabah Camp & Retreat Center
Innabah will make the most of our spectacular spring weather this weekend by hosting its annual Spring 5k Trail Run/Walk on Saturday, April 14 at 9 AM. The course includes dirt trails and gravel roads, along with a few paved sections, but also gorgeous landscapes with rolling terrain above scenic French Creek in Chester County. All proceeds benefit summer camp programs and scholarship funds. And back by popular demand is a delightful pancake and bacon breakfast in the dining hall.
Then comes the big party when the camp holds its annual Open House on Saturday, May 19, from 10 AM to 3 PM. Come with your family to enjoy live music, a moon bounce, hayrides, a silent auction, s’mores, canoeing and much more. All four of our Camp & Retreat Centers will host open houses on Saturday, May 19.
Pocono Plateau Camp & Retreat Center
Pocono Plateau will host its annual Open House and SpringFest May 19, from 10 Am to 3 PM, with tours, hiking, games, hayrides, boating and canoeing, fishing, tower climbing and a savory hot dog roast.
But first they will host their annual Dangerous Retreat for Boys (and Dads), Friday to Sunday, April 27-29. Inspired by the classic Dangerous Book for Boys, the retreat promises exhilarating and yes, dangerous, adventures for boys, in grades 3 to 10, and their dads to enjoy together. It’s a time to just enjoy plain ol’ fun indoors and out. The cost is $99 for boys, $89 for dads. Register online, or call the camp office at 570-676-3665.
Gretna Glen Camp & Retreat Center
Gretna Glen will hold its next Free Youth Night Sunday, April 15, 4 to 6:30 PM. It will be the last gathering of the season, where middle and high school youth get to enjoy a fun evening of activities, faith building and snacks.
Then comes the camp’s Spring Work Day on Saturday, April 21, featuring clean up tasks, construction, landscaping, and other projects, followed by its Spring Fling Senior Adult Day, May 8, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Spring Fling is planned just for adults, with exceptional programs, snacks, a hot lunch, bingo, crafts, and an opportunity to stroll around camp to observe nature, birds, or spring flowers. For just $20, each person can enjoy a spring day filled with fun activities, special entertainment, and shared laughter with friends.
Gretna’s biggest single event of the year will be the Gretna Gritty, May 12, from 8 AM to 2 PM. At the 6th annual mud run fundraiser gritters will run, climb, crawl and jump through a 3-mile course, complete with creative obstacles, to help the camp raise money to support its lifechanging ministries. There are competitive, simply recreational and kids-level runs made for all levels of action; so, everyone can get involved. Learn more.
Finally, Gretna Glen will host its Open House on Saturday, May 19, from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp
Carson Simpson will host Camp Night for Parents” on Thursday evening, April 19, from 5 to 7 PM, offering parents a preview of summer camp activities and routines. Two days later, the scenic camp will host its annual Work Day on Saturday, April 21, from 9 AM to 1 PM, when friends help get the place ready for the summer.
And on May 5 CSF will hold its annual Open House and Plant Sale, from 9 AM 12PM. Learn more and order your flowers today. Come and visit the camp, take a tour and receive a gift.
The camp will hold Disciple Training May 12, 9 AM to 1 PM, and also host the Little Critters Camp Visit that same day, from 9:30 AM to 11 PM. Pre-kindergarten 3-year-olds can be introduced to camp by making crafts, hearing Bible stories, and enjoying a snack and a tour.
In addition, Carson Simpson will focus its annual “CSF Kids Give Back” program on helping Puerto Rico recover from 2017’s devastating Hurricane Maria. In the “Camper to Camper” initiative young campers and their families will fill up and bring their donation banks to church each week. The funds collected all summer will go to Camp Bishop Fred P. Corson in Jayuya, P.R.
“Our prayer is that all of our campers, from age 3 up, will be able to give with joy to help another summer camp for children,” said CSF program manager Meg Neitz. She announced the blessing of a huge donation of containers for the family banks, provided by Ranck’s Lunchmeats on Germantown Ave. in Philadelphia.
“Carson Simpson Farm Christian Camp is excited to dedicate it’s CSF Kids Give Back” Project for 2018 to the efforts in Puerto Rico,” said Neitz.
All the Camp & Retreat Centers are receiving registrations for another sure-to-be exciting summer camp season, which begins in June.
