We are pleased to announce the election of Tamara C. Wims, CPA, as the new Conference Treasurer/Director of Administration for the Wisconsin Annual Conference.  The Wisconsin Conference Council on Finance and Administration elected her August 25 upon the nomination from a joint search team of the Conference Personnel Committee and the Council on Finance and Administration.

Tamara filled the staff position of Support Associate – Accounting III with the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference since November of 2010.  Tamara is a graduate of Temple University’s Fox School of Business. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Black Accountants. A lifelong Methodist, Wims has served as a member of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Board of Higher Education and Ministry and is a newly elected member of the Investment Committee of the General Council on Finance and Administration. She is currently serving as the treasurer of the Philadelphia Caucus of Black Methodists for Church Renewal.

We will miss her professional expertise, love of church and commitment to its ministry and mission and wish her well as she moves into this new role.  Tamara’s last day in our Conference is Friday, September 9.  She will be joining the Finance Office Staff in Wisconsin on Monday, September 12.

Wims’ letter to the conference follows:

Dear Eastern Pennsylvania Conference,

It has been a pleasure to be a part of this Conference Office for nearly six years, serving in the Accounting Department. I have learned so much about the United Methodist Church and have grown spiritually and professionally through my interactions with our Conference Leadership as well as our Local Churches. This experience has sometimes been challenging, yet very rewarding.

I am writing this e-mail to inform you that I have received an offer from the Wisconsin Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church to serve as their Treasurer and Director of Administration. I am excited and also anxious about taking on this role; but I know that my work at the Eastern PA Conference has adequately prepared me.

My last day in the office will be Friday, September 9th. I will assist in every way possible with this transition and pray that our Conference will find a suitable candidate with a heart of servitude to fill this position.

Blessings…

Tamara C. Wims
