201651Trinity (57)Lighthouse Korean UMC in Glenside welcomed the multi-talented Trinity Women’s Choir of South Korea for an extraordinary worship celebration in three languages—Korean, English and American Sign Language (ASL). They gathered on Sunday, May 1, in the main sanctuary of Lighthouse Fellowship UMC in Glenside.

The ensemble of nine young women, from one of the Korea’s largest churches, sang in Korean, “and yet, the Spirit translated wonderfully as all present were blessed and uplifted by the beauty of the worship,” reported the Rev. Cynthia Brubaker, pastor of Lighthouse Fellowship. “One choir member was a stunningly beautiful dancer who signed in Korean as she danced.”

The English- and Korean-language congregations worshiped together, which they typically do on Pentecost Sunday each year.

Laura Byung translated in English and Korean, while Carol Stevens, Deaf Ministries Coordinator for the Philadelphia Episcopal Area, interpreted for Deaf worshipers. The Trinity Choir sang songs to begin and end the service. In- between, congregants heard the Rev. Byung Woo Cho, Lighthouse Korean UMC pastor, preach a sermon, before they gathered to pray together.
