**NEW!! — Added 1/11/19 — Children’s Director — Marticville United Methodist Church is hiring a Children’s Director. We are small but growing. We have approximately 8-10 children. We are looking for someone who can provide a Bible lesson during the preaching time. This would be every Sunday for about 30-40 minutes. It would be nice to follow up with phone calls and any other types of communication to the children. As per salary, we can discuss that. Please make this a matter of prayer. Supervision: The Chancel Choir Director functions under the direction of the Senior Pastor and is held accountable through the supervision of the Senior Pastor and the Pastor Parish Relations Committee.

Qualifications/Experience: The Chancel Choir Director will have the required experience to lead choirs and help lead the worship service.   The Chancel Choir Director will demonstrate a mature and visible commitment to Jesus Christ.

Position Summary: The Chancel Director assists CUMC in its vision as it relates to Traditional Worship. The Chancel Choir Director’s primary responsibility is to oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of a Traditional Adult Choir.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Pastor Parish Relations Committee and the Pastor, the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Chancel Choir Director:

  • Work collaboratively in the selection of choral music that reflects a wide variety and diversity of Traditional musical styles that will create a passionate meaningful, spiritual and worshipful experience for all in attendance.
  1. Develop and direct weekly rehearsals and performances for a Traditional Adult Choir.
  • Provide worship leadership in special Traditional Worship Services or musical performances as requested by the Pastor.
  • Provide other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  1. Submit information for bulletins in a timely fashion as determined by the Administrative Secretary.
  2. Schedule summer soloists or performers when the choir is not singing.
  3. Recruit new Chancel Choir members.
  4. Maintain a music library.
  5. Attend staff meetings and any other meetings requested by the Senior Pastor.
  6. Purchase music of the Chancel Choir and submit to the Pastor for approval of purchase.

Working Hours:  The Chancel Choir Director is a part-time salaried position that is a 10 hour a week position.

Position Summary: The Church Organist helps to lead the Traditional Worship Service of CUMC by using the organ to lift the congregation in music for the praise of God.   The Church Organist will work in conjunction with the Pastor, Chancel Choir and Worship Director.

Qualifications:   The Church Organist will have the required experience to accompany choirs and help lead the worship service.   The Church Organist will demonstrate a mature and visible commitment to Jesus Christ.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Subject to review and adjustment in conjunction with the Pastor Parish Committee and the Pastor, the following constitute the major responsibilities of the Church Organist:

  • Selects and provides diverse organ music at the traditional Sunday worship services mid-week worship occasions, and all special celebrations of worship where the organ is the primary instrument used.
  • Rehearses sufficiently to maintain a high quality of music at the organ.
  • Accompanies vocalists and instrumentalists as needed.
  • Provides organ music for all weddings and funerals held at the church when available and when the organ is the primary instrument used. Fees for these services are not provided by the church, but are honorariums from couples and families at an amount determined by church policy.
  • Connect personally with and ensure qualified organist substitutes other than yourself for the Sunday Services you are off each year and for any Weddings or Funerals you are not available to play.
  • Submit information for bulletins in a timely fashion as determined by the Administrative Secretary.
  • Cooperate with all staff and musicians of the congregation so that music ministry is enhanced within the life of the church in a professional and respectful manner displaying a servant heart.
  • Choose and purchase organ music within the church Finance approved budgetary parameters upon pre- approval of the Pastor. In addition, submit budget requests each fall as part of the budgetary process to the Pastor.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled; work with the pastor, and other special groups to provide consistent uplifting quality music as part of the total music program of this church.
  • The Organist shall have permission to conduct private organ lessons and make the organ available to qualified students.
  1. The organist is responsible for picking all hymns for the traditional worship service as well providing

a prelude, an offertory and postlude for the traditional service.

  1. The organist will work with the Pastor, choir director and worship director when planning a Unity

Sunday combined worship service.

  1. The organist will play a minimum of twenty-six Sunday’s a year.

Ruhl’s U.M.C. is committed to helping people grow in their faith in Jesus Christ, and live out that faith in the larger community.

The office administrator works closely with the pastor and performs a variety of administrative duties. A successful candidate must be able to work independently and take initiative, conduct him or herself with the utmost respect and confidentiality, and be computer and technology savvy.

The office administrator acts as the first point of contact and the face of the church to the community at large and the congregation. The office administrator prepares the weekly worship bulletins; a weekly email newsletter; maintains the church directory, and other records; updates the church calendar; answers the phone and responds to emails; and other duties that support the ministry of the church as requested by the pastor.

Office and/or secretarial/administrative experience required; church or religious background or comparable nonprofit experience strongly preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite; knowledge of social media and church management software a plus.

The position is Monday through Friday, 20 hours a week. Wage is negotiable based on experience.
