North District Mission Projects

2017 – 2018

North District Missons Update: Hurricane Relief Project

In addition, The North District will be sponsoring our regular two mission projects again this year, one local and one international.

International: Mpasa Medical Clinic & Nutrition Center

Located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a suburb of Kinshasa, the Mpasa Health Center serves not only local residents but thousands of people living in abject poverty as a result of fleeing the conflict in their native Sudan. The population of the area has doubled due to the influx of refugees. In the Congo, 80% of the people currently live below the poverty level. Funds raised in this calendar year will be used to support the program that feeds 300 plus children at the Nutrition Center. Monies collected previously made it possible to purchase solar panels to provide electricity for the clinic that serves 5,000 people each year. And last fiscal year our district raised $4571! This year let’s raise $5000 to help feed more children!

Regional: Camperships

Send more kids to United Methodist camps of the Eastern PA Conference! For the 2014-2015 year, our District exceeded the goal of $4500 so camperships could be provided for needy children this past summer! At one point during the summer, Pocono Plateau, our own district camp, ran out of scholarship fund but then the NE District check arrived so more camperships were provided. Let’s raise at least $5000 to help sustain our camp and sponsor kids for the summer 2016.

Camperships Projects
The local mission project for the North District continues with the raising of funds to send children to UM summer camps.
So far we have received $1917 of a $5000 goal.
Please send checks also to the District Office with
Camperships in the memo line.

North District Overall Goals

In past years churches have had special offerings to support District Mission Projects. Also cluster groups have raised funds as well. Our hope is to do the same in this next year. Also churches may be willing to support one or both of these projects at a higher level. And Mission Connection groups can get involved as well. If you or your church plan to be part of any of the District Mission Projects, you are invited to send your gift to the district office, indicating for which project your gift is intended. Some choose to split an offering between both projects. Please notate the project(s) in the memo portion of the check making it payable to the EPA Conference. By sending it through the district, we can monitor the funds to be sure your gift is used as intended.
