  • We received word of the death of Mrs. Clara L. Harris, surviving spouse of the Rev. Robert L. Harris. She passed away on Wednesday, November 29. Rev. Harris served Phila.: St. Thomas, Phila.: St.  Barnabas-Bethsaida, Phila.: Tioga (closed), Phila.: Camphor Memoria, Phila.: Janes Memorial, and as a District Superintendent. The Harrises surviving children are: Constance Ophelia Long, Paul Danford Harris, James Eugene Harris, Charles Edward Harris, Calvin Francis Harris and Minerva Thomas. Preceding them in death were: Robert L. Harris, Jr., Gladys L. Clayton and Henrietta Thomas. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to Mrs. Constance O.   • Mrs. Hope Henry, beloved wife of Rev. Clyde W. Henry, will be eulogized by Bishop F. Herbert Skeete on Saturday, November 18 at 10 am at Camphor Memorial Church, 5620 Wyalusing Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131. The viewings for Mrs. Henry will take place on November 17 from 6-9 pm and November 18 from 8:30 am-10 am. Rev. Henry served Camphor Memorial from 1985-1991.

  • Pray for Ben Stippich, son of the Rev. Deborah Gildart-Hanks, pastor of Mont Clare: Otterbein) and the Rev. Rob Stippich, pastor of New Holland: Evangelical), as he struggles with serious consequences of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Ben was born when his parents were both serving Levittown: Emilie UMC.
  • Pray for the Rev. Nancy Ross, Pastor, Pottstown: Salem, as she continues to recover from a procedure. Pray also for Pastor Jack Ross (Radnor UMC) and their family.   • Remember the Rev. Wendy Bellis, pastor of Morrisville UMC, whose father, the Rev. Richard Hohl, passed away on October 9. Rev. Hohl was also the uncle of the Rev. Timothy S. Thomson-Hohl, pastor of Ardmore UMC. A son of this Annual Conference, Rev. Hohl was 88 years old. He served the Coventryville and Nantmeal charge in the 1950s prior to moving to Iowa.   • Please pray for the father of the Rev. Misty Fuller, Pastor, Phila.: Sayers Memorial and Phila.: Berry-Long Memorial (South District), who is continuing to recover from a massive stroke he suffered on October 7. Pray also for Rev. Fuller and the rest of the family as they stand by him.

  • Remember the family of Mr. Sterlin Carnell Daniel, 77, former member of Janes Memorial UMC, who left this life on September 9 at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Daniel was an active layperson, serving as a steward and as President, Board of Trustees, Janes Memorial, for over 30 years, and who was, at one time, a resource and advisor to Metro Ministries, Inc. He was a registered architect in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia and worked for his own firm, Daniel Group, Inc. He was employed by the Philadelphia Public School District for 33 years as a Compliance Officer. Upon retiring to Goochland, Virginia, Mr. Daniel united with the Emmaus Baptist Church where he was well respected for his wisdom and was very supportive of many activities. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marion Daniel, as well as his siblings, Jack L. Daniel, Phillis D. Lavelle, Stephen B. Daniel and their spouses, many nieces and nephews, many double-first cousins, and many, many other cousins and friends.

  • Please pray for the Rev. Marilyn Schneider (Deacon, serving at Grove UMC on the South District) as she is hospitalized for treatment of an unidentified infection.   • Mrs. Doris H. Schroeder, 91, passed away on August 22. She was the widow of the late Rev. Hans W. Schroeder, a clergy member of the Eastern PA Conference. Rev. Schroeder served the Montgomery Square UMC from 1960 to 1992, when he retired. He passed away in 1994. Doris Schroeder was a longtime member of First UMC in Lansdale. Survivors include her three adult children: Karen L. Dixon (and husband Glen), John W. Schroeder (and wife Fawn), and Sheri L. Moyer (and husband Richard), plus two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Schroeder’s memory to Dock Woods Benevolent Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
  • Please add retired elder, the Rev. Susan C. Czarnecki, and her family to your prayer list. Rev. Czarnecki has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and she is having trouble tolerating the chemo therapy treatments she is receiving.
  • Remember the Rev. Nancy L. Miller, Extension Minister, in prayer as she mourns the loss of her mother, Dorothy (Dottie) DeBoer Miller, on July 26. Mrs. Miller was a resident of Cornwall Manor Retirement Community since 2004. Being a missionary kid, she was passionate about missions, local and global. She led Volunteers in Mission trips all over the world; taught at numerous Schools of Mission; gave leadership in local churches (Millersville: Grace and then Lebanon: Good Shepherd), District (former Lancaster), and Conference, and United Methodist Women, showing all, by humble example, how to be a true disciple of Jesus, how to not only accept but celebrate ALL people. She was also wife to Bill who died in 2011, and mother of 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grand-daughters, aunt to many, and sister to 2 clergy brothers. Condolences may be sent to Rev.   • Continue to remember the family of the Rev. Elisandra García, newly appointed pastor to Phila.: Espirtu Santo in the Juniata Park neighborhood, whose father, Angél García, passed on to glory on July 19.
  • We have received word of the death of the RevWilliam A. “Bill” Miller, 83, a retired Elder in the Eastern PA Conference, who died Friday, June 2, in Myerstown. Rev. Miller served churches in the now-Susquehanna Conference at Williamstown and Tower City from 1954 to 1960, before transferring to the Eastern PA Conference. He then served the following appointments: 1960 – 1962 Manheim; 1962 – 1973 Mt. Aetna; 1962 – 1973 Myerstown: Zion; 1973 – 1977 Chaplain at Quaker Alloy Casting Co. (Extension); and 1977 – 1998 Schaefferstown: Zion. Rev. Miller was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Naval Reserve Chaplain Corps from 1967 to 1982. He retired in 1998. He was the husband of Betty K. (Kreider) Miller, whom he married in 1951. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Richard Shenk; two sons -J. William, husband of Linda Miller, and Douglas L., husband of Joanna Miller; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter.   • Mr. Earl E. “Hess” GehresJr., 83, of Donaldson, the husband of the Rev. Nancy A. Gehres, passed away on Saturday, May 27.  A U.S. Army veteran, he was a retired nursing assistant who served at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Medical Center for 34 years. Surviving Mr. Gehres are his wife and two sons–John Gehres and his wife Kelita; and Thomas Gehres and his wife, Tanya–plus five grandchildren.   • The Rev. George Boone III, 77, a retired Elder in the Eastern PA Conference, passed away on Saturday, May 20. He served the following UMC churches: Phila.: Logan, Erdenheim: St. Mark, Trevose, and Phila.: Tacony. Rev. Boone’s funeral will be on Friday, May 26, at Trevose UMC, 4937 Church Ave., Trevose PA. Visitation is at 10 am, the Masonic Service at 10:45 am, and his Memorial Service at 11 am. Rev. Boone, whose wife Jo Anne F. Boone passed away in 2015, leaves behind two surviving children: Deborah E. Boltner (and husband, Daniel) and Timothy A. Boone, as well as six grandchildren and his brother, Robert Boone, among other relatives and friends.   • We received word of the death of Mrs. Diana Whittaker, surviving spouse of The Rev. Charles Whittaker. She passed away on April 23. She is survived by two children: David & Richard Whittaker. Rev. Whittaker served as EPA Youth Director and as pastor of the following churches:

  • Remember the Rev. Sharon Barley, former pastor at Jarrettown UMC, and her husband Gary Bonalumi as he continues to recover from a heart surgery and anticipates dental work when his heart is stronger.
  • Update on Rev. Stanley Krall from Clarita: Since I first wrote on December 20th, we have learned that my husband Stan suffered a spinal stoke on December 19th, causing paralysis from his waist down. After spending ten days hospitalized, he was discharged to acute rehab. Just yesterday we learned that he will be coming home from Moss Rehab Hospital on January 18. At Moss, in physical therapy sessions, he has been working to strengthen and train his legs to walk again and to climb stairs. I want to thank all who have been praying for recovery of health for him and strength for both of us and our family. We have felt so very supported by all the emails, notes, visits, offers of help, and prayers of so many friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and even strangers. We thank God for each!
  • Remember David, the son-in-law of the Rev. Jacquie (part-time local pastor on the SW District) and Scott Sheely, who suffered a stroke in December. Also, Jim, Scott’s father was recently hospitalized. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers – Jackie, Scott, David, Adrienne, Jim and Janet.
