We have learned that the Rev. Christopher Wollyung, 66, passed away April 23, 2017. He was serving Mahanoy City: First UMC and intended to retire on July 1, 2017.
Rev. Wollyung served these churches:

- Girardville
- Zion Grove: Dadis Chapel
- Mahanoy City: First
Chris served for twenty-three years as Executive Chair of the Hazleton Enlarged Ministry, was Chair of the Schuylkill County Drug and Alcohol Committee and served on the Schuylkill County Suicide Prevention Task Force. He was a member of the F&AM, Lodge 611, a long-time donator for the American Red Cross and served as a guest chaplain for the Pennsylvania State Senate.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Susan (Edelman) Wollyung; a son, Robert Wollyung and his wife Christine; a daughter Carol and her husband Dr. Thomas Deeble; and a daughter, Jennifer Wollyung. He is also survived by six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, at 7 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 400 East Mahanoy St., Mahanoy City. The Rev. H. Joe Tyson, Northwest District Superintendent, will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing from 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, at the church prior to the service.
