We received word of the death of the Rev. James A. Landis, a Retired Associate Member of the Eastern PA Conference, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016.  A resident of Horsham Twp. and formerly of Sellersville, PA, he was 86.

Condolences may be send to Mrs. Nancy S. Wright, his surviving daughter, at 523 Mullen Road, Ambler, PA  19002-1603.

An Evangelical and Methodist Pastor for 27 years, Rev. Landis was appointed to serve the following churches, before he retired in 1993:

  • 06/01/1960 to 05/31/1964 – Phoenixville: Bethesda
  • 06/01/1964 to 05/31/1966 – Emmaus: Zion
  • 06/01/1964 to 06/30/1968 – Bethlehem: St. Luke’s
  • 07/01/1968 to 06/30/1974 – Palmerton: Salem
  • 07/01/1974 to 06/30/1980 – Quakertown: Bethel
  • 07/01/1980 to 06/30/1987 – Bellegrove
  • 07/01/1980 to 06/30/1987 – Water Works
  • 07/01/1987 to 06/30/1993 – Narvon: Mt. Zion

Following his retirement, he served for several years as a visitation pastor for First UMC Perkasie. He was also a former president of the Highland Park Campmeeting Association, Sellersville, PA.

A U. S. Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War, he was married for 62 years to Eleanor B. (Benner) Landis, until her death in 2014.

Rev. Landis’ funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, at 1:30 PM, at the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
