A Laity Academy-sponsored course that satisfies the “Preaching 2” requirement, available via Zoom

Dates:

• Saturday, September 20, 7 – 9 pm
• Saturday, September 21, 9 am to 12 noon
• Saturday, September 28, 9 am to 12 noon

PREACHING CAREFULLY: In the early church, the pastor was called to be a “shepherd of souls,” a role which included both preaching and caring. But after the Reformation, those roles were often separated, with the titles “pastor” and “preacher” referring to separate tasks of ministry. Since true preaching is always pastoral, this course will help those who speak on Sunday mornings learn how to reclaim being a “shepherd of souls.”

PREREQUISITES:

1. Has completed the Basic Christ Servant Ministries Course (or the training for a Local Church Lay Servant) as required by the Book of Discipline prior to taking the course
2. Has completed a Preaching 1 or Speaking 1 Course, and
3. Will have completed assigned pre-class work that includes reading, “I am the Lord Who Heals You” by G. Scott Morris. (Additional information will be given after registration.)
