Hopewell UMC will host the annual Planting Seeds for Ministry Growth full-day event Saturday, Nov. 7. An advanced Christ Servant Ministry course will again be offered in conjunction with Planting Seeds, Nov. 6-7, beginning Fridayevening. The theme is “A Force Outside the Fortress,” and the keynote speaker will be the Rev. Mike Slaughter, lead pastor at Ginghamsburg Church in Ohio and keynoter at our 2014 Annual Conference. Workshops will include Growing a Mission Movement, led by Slaughter; Teaching the Bible through Film, led by Bible Professor Rhonda Burnette-Bletsch; and Exploring Our Worship Dimension, led by sacred jazz musician Warren Cooper. Event planners want to “embolden local churches for active conformity to the will of God. No more hiding within the fortress of the church building. No more failure to bring creative excellence into worship. No more satisfaction with shallow and lazy Biblical interpretation. Come alive, Church, and be excellent!”
MESSAGE FROM HOPEWELL UMC–October 26
Thank you so much for your generous support of this year’s Planting Seeds for Ministry Growth on November 7th. We have been joyfully overwhelmed by the number of registrants and are eagerly looking forward to Rev. Mike Slaughter’s keynote address and workshop—encouraging the Church to be a fortress outside the walls—as well as the expert teaching of Warren Cooper and Dr. Rhonda Burnette-Bletsch. Because we have reached maximum seating capacity (Praise the Lord), we are no longer able to accept additional registrations.
Again, many thanks for your encouragement and support. We look forward to witnessing the way in which God will use this event (and future ones) to bless and inspire our local churches, their leaders, and their surrounding communities.
To God be the glory!
Rev. Amy Banka
Hopewell United Methodist Church.
